Hi everyone! This is our first blog post since returning back to the UK. Apologies for the delay. The boys went back to school at the beginning of September and I went back to work (supply teacher) and the whole first few weeks just flew by. Add in the jet lag (it was so bad) it made the beginning of September pretty tricky to manage.
Anyway, if you are following us on our other channels you will have probably seen our Gatorland vlog on You Tube (link below) so I thought this would be a good time to write some blogs on our Florida road trip there too!
So I actually lived in Florida in 2003 for a year so this was not our first visit. However this was the first time my husband and two boys had been. We had the most fantastic and found it very educational! Gatorland is easily accessible by car in Orlando. It’s located on Orange Blossom Trail not far from Walt Disney World if you are staying near by. We bought the tickets on the day but you can buy online too.
GatorLand is a 110 acre theme park and wild life preserve. It brands itself as the ‘Alligator capital of the world’ so it had a lot to live up to as both myself and my husband have been to Steve Irwin‘s Australia Zoo which has similar shows and offerings! We were not disappointed and really enjoyed our trip here.
There is a lot on offer, from a zip wire across alligators (we missed this out due to our sons broken elbow) which looked amazing! There is an extensive amount of alligators to see with a good variety of breeds. Its also very interactive and there are loads of shows and chances to feed the animals and on some occasions touch them (extra charges apply). Our boys loved feeding the alligators fish and listening to the educational talks!
To summarise if you are after a day away from the theme parks and Disney bubble, love the outdoors and are after an interactive, and educational experience we would definitely recommend Gatorland! You tube link below. For more information visit www.gatorland.com
